This Food for Thought will cover two important questions:
What is leadership (to you)?
How should we lead others?
Leadership can take many forms. Often we focus on leadership in the hierarchical sense, someone who is in a certain position in the hierarchy. We explore the history behind leadership and presents some initial ideas about how to think about leadership and how we can actually lead others.
The Food for Thought will also use Sli.do to facilitate interaction with participants and resources will be provided afterwards.
For whom is this "Food for Thought"? For Doctoral and Early Career Researchers
What will be the maximum number of participants? 100 participants
What will be covered? Introduction to leadership. Different leadership styles. Leadership toolbox.
Who is this event for? Anyone who has questions about leadership and doesn’t know where to start. Anyone who would like to dedicate one hour to reflecting and thinking about leadership.

Prof. Dr. Brooke Gazdag
Dr. Brooke A. Gazdag is an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Business School. After completing her PhD in Organizational Behavior and Management at the State University of New York at Buffalo, she took a position as Post Doc at the Technical University of Munich as part of a project on the “Selection and Evaluation of Leaders in Academia and Industry.” Afterwards she worked at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich in the Munich School of Business until 2020. Her research and training interests center around leadership, negotiations and diversity and the intersection of these three topics. In the last year, Dr. Gazdag has fully embraced the rapid digitization of the working world and adapted not only her own leadership and training to the context, but also seeks to help others do the same.
