Bin ich auf dem richtigen Weg? Individuelle Karriereplanung (K02-01)
Fr. 02.02.2024 - Fr. 09.02.2024
Dozentin:
In diesem Workshop ...
- erstellen Sie eine Standortbestimmung – „Wo stehe ich? Wo will ich hin? Passt das eigentlich?“
- reflektieren Sie Ihren bisherigen Werdegang.
Design Thinking in Universities: Work and Think Agile in Complex Structures (Z02-01)
Di. 06.02.2024 - Mi. 07.02.2024
Dozentin:
Paul Endrejat
Integrating design thinking into universities equips its members with the tools and mindset to navigate, adapt, and innovate in an ever-changing world. Design Thinking is a systematic approach to complex problems that is based on user orientation. Ideas are developed at the interface between people, the environment and technology, consistently focusing on people with their needs, motivations, and problems. The iterative nature of design thinking means that solutions are not set in stone.
When applied to universities, design thinking can address a myriad of challenges and opportunities. Universities are vast ecosystems with various departments and disciplines. Design thinking encourages collaboration across these disciplines, leading to richer, more holistic solutions to complex problems. Or design thinking can be used to come up with innovative solutions to campus challenges: Whether it is enhancing campus life, improving the interfaces between scientists and research managers, or making administrative processes more efficient. Design thinking can lead to fresh, effective solutions.
This workshop was created in collaboration with Department 4 "Research Management and Funding" and is designed for Research and Hgher Education Managers working at the Universität Hamburg.
Note: There will be an "Advanced Design Thinking" workshop in October 2024. Attendance will only be possible for participants of one of the three "Design Thinking" workshops before.
Preparations
We want to convey design thinking learning by doing. Thus, we teach all methods along the design thinking process. A design thinking process starts with a challenge. Maybe you have a challenge that is not too technical or complex but open enough to allow for creative solutions in a research environment. You can use this link to hand in the challenge.

Navigating Uncertainty (K02-10)
Mo. 12.02.2024
Dozentin:
Desiree Dickerson
Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers face several uncertainties and challenges regarding their plans for the future. When you choose academia, non-permanent contracts are common and the pressure to create excellent results is high. If you want to leave the system, uncertainty may be given through a new environment and unknown expectations. Navigating through these uncertainties successfully helps you to unlock your resources and make profound and satisfying decisions.
The Human Resources Development department organizes two online seminars with Dr. Desiree Dickerson, to provide some insights into the topic of uncertainty and on how to navigate through these. We will also introduce the psychological counseling for doctoral researchers as well as the personal counseling for early career researchers, provided by the Universität Hamburg after the presentation by Dr. Dickerson.
Uncertainty can lead to pressure, blockades and fear that not only influence your daily work but also your decision-making skills regarding your future. Finding your way through this uncertainty, can help you make the right decision regarding your next steps concerning career or other decisions.
In this seminar we explore:
- Give yourself permission to feel uncertain.
- Navigate uncertainty and worry.
- Make micro-changes to maintain a solid emotional and mental foundation.
- Dealing with uncertainty in regard to (career) decision making.
